Q: What is SiteWinds?
A: SiteWinds helps you monitor real-time or near real-time wind readings around your favorite coastal and
inland sites, with map overlays and grouped site navigation. It's useful for activities including model
aircraft flying, kite surfing, windsurfing, paragliding, and hang gliding.
Q: Do I need an account?
A: No. SiteWinds does not require account creation.
Q: Why does data sometimes show as stale?
A: Station providers may publish less frequently or temporarily fail. SiteWinds marks older readings as stale
to avoid misleading live interpretations.
Q: Where does SiteWinds wind data come from?
A: SiteWinds combines third-party station data from providers including
WillyWeather (with data supplied by the
Bureau of Meteorology),
Holfuy, and selected community or club feeds.
Q: How do I restore or manage SiteWinds Pro?
A: Open Settings and go to the SiteWinds Pro section. Use Restore Purchases if the app does not
recognize your subscription, or Manage Subscription if you want to review, change, or cancel it in the
App Store or Play Store.
Q: How does the SiteWinds Pro subscription work?
A: New users get a 3-day free preview of all features. When the preview ends, you can subscribe to SiteWinds Pro which includes a 1-month free trial. After the trial, the subscription renews annually (1-year) at the standard price. You can cancel anytime from your App Store or Play Store account settings.
Q: Does SiteWinds show ads?
A: No. SiteWinds is completely ad-free and does not use any advertising SDKs or ad tracking. The app is funded exclusively through subscriptions.
Q: Refresh does not seem to change readings immediately.
A: Data can be affected by provider update cadence and API cache timing. Wait briefly and refresh again.
Q: The app feels slow when opening search.
A: Update to the latest app version. Search rendering has been optimized for larger site lists.
Q: The app is not loading correctly.
A: Try force-closing and reopening the app, then restart your device. If the issue persists, email support.
If you have ideas to improve SiteWinds, send them by email. Product decisions are guided by safety, clarity, and low-friction usability, including improving weather coverage where people use the app most.
